If hiring a professional like myself is not in your budget let me give you an insight on what you need to do to make an effective highlight reel. DO NOT SHOOT THE GAME, SHOOT THE PLAYER. Your mission is not to shoot a game and then place a little arrow over an ant sized player hoping a viewer can see any detail. Recruiters want to and need to see athleticism, footwork, skills and they REALLY NEED TO SEE THAT TO HAVE AN EFFECT. So here's what you ultimately should do. Use a quality camera with a zoom lens so you can zero in on the player you are featuring. OR use your smart phone and do the same thing. Shoot that player and only that player in closeup and mid range action, and sometimes in wide angel action. Edit it with simple available edit software (I-Movie) and create something that sells. The above video was sent to the coaches at Limestone University and two hours later this kid had a ride to play for them. He is now wearing two NC rings.
