John Baer is The Lacrosse Guy.
With fifty plus years attached to the game, he is the real deal.
As a kid from Massapequa, Long Island he grew up in and around the game. He was an all-star goalie through high school, went on to play college ball at Brockport State University where he continued his string of All-Star Team selections. In 1977 he was the Florida Lacrosse League MVP, in 1982 while living in Australia, brought over as a player and coach, he was selected to play for the Australian World Team.
As a coach and promoter of the game, he founded the TSLA, the league that still exists in Tennessee today. He's developed many teams and coached several in the middle Tennessee area (MBA, Brentwood, Hillsboro, Father Ryan, Nashville LC, Franklin HS, CPA, Woodland MS, Overton HS...). He's been nominated for National Lacrosse Man of The Year twice and was a finalist for the award in 1994. He's been a TN, Coach of the Year and Mid American Lacrosse Conference Coach of the Year multiple times.
While at Montgomery Bell Academy he compiled a 98-12 record, winning four state championships and two mid-American championships. In 1993 they were ranked nationally #22 after going 17-0 and defeating regional powers from New England, New Jersey, and other top tier states. A ranking which has never been duplicated in the state. During his tenure at MBA, he produced seven High School All-Americans, four of which went on to become collegiate All-Americans as well. Kirk Howell lead Notre Dame to their first final four appearance and was a two time All American goalie for the Fighting Irish.
